2. Negatives

οὐ / οὐκ / οὐχIndicative "not"

οὐκ before smooth breathing, οὐχ before rough breathing

How to Study With This

  • Memorize the endings by person color.
  • Practice conjugating out loud.
  • Identify mood before translating.
  • οὐ for facts, μή for commands.

7. Verb Analysis Routine

  3. 3.Check for οὐ/μή negation.
  4. 4.Determine Mood: statement? command? "to X"?
  5. 5.Translate with correct English subject.

The ending tells you WHO does the action.

μὴ = negative (imperative)-ε = 2nd sg. imperative-ειν = infinitive
